Biography
First discovered as a teenager while attending a Cure concert, Canadian model Shalom Harlow made her first film appearance in the 1995 documentary "Unzipped" about high fashion designer Isaac Mizrahi. Harlow then went on to co-host MTV's fashion news and interview show "House of Style" alongside fellow supermodel Amber Valleta. Her genial manner and warm elegance on the small screen and on fashion runways made Harlow the first winner of Vogue/VH1's Model of the Year award and the spokeswoman for Chanel's perfume line, Coco. Her first acting job came with a small role in the 1997 Kevin Kline comedy "In and Out"; her first lead came two years later in the indie romantic comedy "Cherry." This was followed in 2001 by a supporting role in the comic mystery "Head Over Heels," starring Freddie Prinze, Jr. and a small part in Cameron Crowe's fantasia "Vanilla Sky." While continuing her lucrative modeling career, regularly appearing in lists of the highest-earning supermodels, Harlow maintained a steady presence as an actor, with roles in films ranging from the Val Kilmer-starring drama "The Salton Sea" to the fluffy Kate Hudson romantic comedy "How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days." Her most prestigious acting gig came with a supporting role in Woody Allen's 2004 comedy-drama "Melinda and Melinda."
