Biography
While horror fans may know writer/director Mark Rosman for his breakout feature, "The House on Sorority Row," he has been more prolific making family fare such as "A Cinderella Story" and "The Perfect Man." Growing up in Los Angeles, he first attended UCLA but changed coasts when he wasn't accepted into the university's film program, switching instead to NYU. He first worked with Brian De Palma, helping out on "Home Movies," before returning to Los Angeles to concoct his own first film. Managing to raise enough funding, he wrote, directed, and produced the successful 1983 indie horror feature "The House on Sorority Row." After leaving his next project over creative differences, he had his first taste of Disney fare with the time-traveling aviation tale "The Blue Yonder," working as writer and director. Subsequent, less memorable projects followed, including a couple of science fiction duds. Rosman persisted, and became a regular director on the family series "Lizzie McGuire," featuring Hilary Duff in the lead role. He next directed Duff in back-to-back films: the modern take on the classic romance "A Cinderella Story" and the match-making comedy "The Perfect Man."
