Biography
After gaining experience with several companies in the 1960s and 70s in the realms of video technology and marketing, White achieved top executive status in the early 80s with CBS/Fox Video, a joint venture between CBS Inc. and 20th Century Fox-Video, where he had worked previously. An early supporter of the multilabel concept now common within video marketing, White played an important role in increasing CBS/Fox's profits during his tenure, which climaxed with a three-year stint as president beginning in 1984. Moving to Orion in 1987 to helm OHEC, its company specializing in pay-TV, cable and TV syndication, he added the company's video ventures to his administrative purview and saw its earnings increase ninefold by 1991. Gaining a reputation for efficiency and cost control, White held onto the company's distribution contacts and was later named interim president and CEO of the Orion parent company in 1992, as it began to dig itself out of deep pit of bankruptcy.
