Biography
Jimmie Rodgers brought his musical talents to a variety of films over the course of his Hollywood career. Rodgers began his entertainment career with his music featured in films like the Paul Newman dramatic adaptation "The Long, Hot Summer" (1958), "Yotzim Kavua" (1979) with Jonathan Segal and the musical comedy "Cry Baby" (1990) with Johnny Depp. His music also appeared in the Joe Pesci comedy "My Cousin Vinny" (1992). An an actor as well as a musician, Rodgers took on a part in "Back Door to Hell" (1964). In the nineties, Rodgers's music continued to appear on the silver screen, including in films like "Riding the Rails" (1997) with Jim Mitchell, "Timothy Leary's Dead" (1997) and "The Iron Giant" (1999). Rodgers's music was also featured in the action movie "Men of Honor" (2000) with Robert De Niro, the crime drama "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" (2000) with George Clooney and "Slipstream" (2007) with Anthony Hopkins. His music was also featured in the Vince Vaughn documentary "Vince Vaughn's Wild West Comedy Show: 30 Days & 30 Nights--Hollywood to the Heartland" (2008) and the Hal Holbrook dramatic adaptation "That Evening Sun" (2009). Rodgers's music was most recently used in the dramatic adaptation "We Need to Talk About Kevin" (2011) with Tilda Swinton.
