Biography
Houston-born actor Henry G. Sanders may be best-remembered as Robert E. from the long-running female-led Western series "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman." Sanders broke into the industry in 1970 with a supporting role in the Sylvester Stallone thriller "No Place to Hide." The two would re-team 36 years later for Stallone's "Rocky Balboa," the final chapter in the iconic boxer's film franchise. In the meantime, Sanders built a successful television career, scoring scads of one-offs in television programs and supporting roles in TV movies. Though he made his way into a number of films over his long career, he's appeared in more than twice as many television programs, including such popular shows as the urban sitcom "Good Times," the medical drama "St. Elsewhere," and the long-running crime drama "Matlock." In 1993, Sanders joined the cast of the new Jane Seymour series, "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman." The frontier-set drama proved popular, winning a slew of awards and lasting six seasons, during which Sanders appeared in 108 episodes. The show wrapped in 1998, but Sanders reprised his role for the 1999 TV movie " Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman: The Movie," which served as the epilogue to the beloved series. Since then, Sanders has continued to balance his supporting turns in film with one-offs and guest spots on a variety of TV programs.
