While we don’t usually cross over into television much on this blog, I thought it was important to point out that American Idol will feature a round of movie songs this week. Yup, and to make it even more compelling to watch, they’ve gone and snatched up Quentin Tarantino (of all people) to help train the seven remaining singers. And I don’t mean to go doggin’ on Tarantino – the guy has exceptional taste in music (I still listen to the Pulp Fiction soundtrack at least once a week), but he just seems like an odd choice for a television program like American Idol … especially since most of the show’s viewing audience are too young to watch any of his films. But I digress …

In honor of Tarantino’s appearance on American Idol this week, I thought it would be fun to discuss our favorite movie songs. I recently wrote a Fandango feature on great movie soundtracks (check it out over here), but sometimes a movie only features one or two really great songs, and it’s those tunes that help you remember how much fun it was to watch . As for myself, I tend to hang out in the random geeky corner with songs like “Back in Time” (from Back to the Future) and “You’re The Best … Around” (from Karate Kid), but I’m so much lamer than your average normal human being.

But I wanna know which movie songs you like the best? And if you’re a fan of American Idol, which movie songs would you like to see featured on the show this week?
