With DC ramping up their big superhero-movie push -- beginning with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, in theaters March 25, 2016 -- we're starting to get excited about what that movie will eventually lead us to: Justice League, DC's version of The Avengers.

When it comes to the Justice League on the big screen, we already know who's playing most of the team's members, except for one: Green Lantern. We can check off Superman (Henry Cavill), Batman (Ben Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), the Flash (Ezra Miller) and Cyborg (Ray Fisher), but one of the League's most powerful and influential members is still without an actor to play him.

We know it won't be Ryan Reynolds, who played the character in 2011's Green Lantern, and now rumors are surfacing that Star Trek's Chris Pine may be the leading candidate, so say the scoop masters over at Latino Review.

But not so fast! Many fans would prefer this version of Green Lantern to not be the Hal Jordan character Reynolds played, but instead the John Stewart character, who in the comics was a backup Green Lantern until eventually taking over the main role when Jordan retired.

So if Warner Bros. decides to go with Stewart, who could play him? Well we know one man already wants the role: rapper-turned-actor Common.

In fact, it isn't out of the realm of possibility. Back in 2007, Common was supposed to play John Stewart for director George Miller in Justice League Mortal, but that project got waylaid by the writers' strike. Lately fans have been creating artwork featuring Common as Green Lantern, and Common directly replied to the scenario when we tweeted about it earlier, asking yay or nay, with his response being... "So. Much. Yay."

He's also been talking up his love of Lantern while doing rounds promoting Run All Night, telling ScreenRant...

"I would love to be John Stewart and play Green Lantern. That was one of those things where I was so excited because we rarely see African-American superheroes or people of color as a superhero. I think it would be great for the world to see, and for people to see, and for Hollywood to put that out there, too. But just for the world to see, just for kids to be able to see, for all nationalities to see a person of color as a superhero, too."

There's also someone else who really wants the role: Tyrese Gibson. The actor posted fan art of himself as the character back on Instagram in January.

What do you think? Should Chris Pine play Green Lantern? Should Common play Green Lantern? Or is there someone else out there you'd like to see land the gig? As of now we'll most likely see the character appear in that aforementioned Justice League movie in 2017, and he's set to launch his own solo franchise with a new Green Lantern movie in 2020.
