Earlier this year, we learned that Tomb Raider would be getting the reboot treatment, but that was about it. Well, that and Angelina Jolie would obviously not be returning for a third stint as Lara Croft.

Comingsoon.net recently spoke with Graham King, whose production company picked up the rights to the brand name back in March. The chat revealed that King is leaning toward an origin movie.

"Listen, the box office, they weren't disasters but I find it interesting that the story that we're telling is really the story before she became Lara Croft, so it is a character piece. It does have a lot of really great characters, but it's a lot of action and a lot of fun, and for me, it's something very different."

Much like Batman, Spider-Man, James Bond and countless other well-known franchises, it sounds like this new Tomb Raider movie will delve into what made young Lara Croft such a talented (and hot) adventurer.

While the movie, which is currently targeting a 2013 release, has yet to fill its writer and director vacancies, the attention of course is on which young actress can pull off the Croft character. Olivia Wilde and Amber Heard seem to be generating the most buzz, but we'll keep you posted on further developments.

In the meanwhile, does the origin angle work for you and who would you cast?
