This week we get to rest our box office predictor hats because The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part 1 is arriving in theaters with an express ticket straight to the top of the weekend charts. Sure, there’s a small, outside chance a film like Happy Feet Two could take the weekend box office, but we’re not going to be the ones who bet on the animated penguins to win it (but that doesn’t mean you can’t throw love their way). Let’s take a closer look …

What’s the Scoop: Part one of this two-part franchise finale revolves around Bella (Kristen Stewart) and Edward’s (Robert Pattinson) marriage, honeymoon and subsequent crazy-ass vampire pregnancy. Those who have no idea what we’re talking about should probably leave this one to the gigantic fanbase full of tweens who will make sure this movie breaks all sorts of box office records.

Why It Might Win the Weekend: Because it has the word "Twilight" in its title.

What’s the Scoop: The animated penguins are back in a brand new story that finds our favorite penguins’ home threatened, forcing them to band together to protect what’s most important to them.

Why It Might Win the Weekend: Considering Breaking Dawn has already grossed (in midnight shows alone) almost as much as the original Happy Feet grossed its entire opening weekend, chances are slim that this sequel has a chance at the crown. Still, though, the original topped off at $384 million worldwide, so definitely do not underestimate this franchise.

My Prediction: Breaking Dawn will break this weekend’s box office, along with a few records while they’re at it.

My Pick of the Week: The Descendants, starring George Clooney as a father who tries to re-connect with his daughters after their mother is in a boating accident, is garnering a lot of Oscar buzz right now and may even be the current frontrunner for Best Picture. If you’re looking for something a little more grounded and adult, definitely see this.

Now it’s your turn – let us know which film you think will win the weekend box office {cough -- Breaking Dawn -- cough}
