The movies are supposed to re-create our fantasies, but every now and then we try to mimic the magic of the silver screen in our real lives. Marriage proposals are a logical place for movie geeks to attempt such transcendence. There was that guy who dressed up as Spider-Man to ask his leading lady to marry him. And then there was the guy who reenacted a Jurassic Park scene for his proposal. And that time a guy made a whole movie trailer to do the deed in front of an audience. Oh, and there was the guy who proposed during a screening of Back to the Future from inside the actual movie.
Now, via the Daily Mail, meet a couple whose wedded future has begun with a special proposal on a private lake in London. The groom set everything up to get his bride-to-be into a rowboat surrounded by swans, reminiscent of a romantic scene from The Notebook. Real fowl might have fouled things up, though, so the guy went with 1,000 origami stand-ins. It wasn't all movie reenactment, as the plans also integrated some of the surprised young woman's favorite songs. And the moment doesn't end with a rain-drenched kiss like the iconic one shared by Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams -- which could have easily happened given the location. Watch it below.
Another way for fans to mix reality with the movies is by meeting cast members dressed as beloved animated characters at Walt Disney World. Usually this applies best to children, who might think these theme park players are the real deal. And sometimes that can go rather amusingly when young fans interact with Disney villains. Watch one little girl telling off Gaston from Beauty and the Beast here. But other times grown men try to prove that they're more of a real deal than the hired hands in costume. One such tough guy recently challenged Gaston to a push-up contest. Care to guess who wins before watching below? Here's a hint: no one's slick as Gaston; no one's quick as Gaston.
