Bridge of Spies

Steven Spielberg is perhaps best known for being the king of the summer movie. He loves adventure and spectacle and mashing the two together to give audiences something they've never seen before. But while the likes of JawsJurassic Park and Indiana Jones may be his calling cards, Spielberg is also a titan when it comes to making serious, meaningful dramas about the world's ugly and not-so-distant past.

So when you press play on the first trailer for Spielberg's newest movie Bridge of Spies, don't expect Summer-Movie Spielberg -- expect Oscar-Season Spielberg.

Bridge of Spies is the true story of an ordinary lawyer (Tom Hanks) who is thrust into the extraordinary position of negotiating with the Soviet Union for the release of Francis Gary Powers, the pilot of an American spy plane who was shot down behind enemy lines.

Think along the lines of other Spielberg movies like Munich, War Horse and Lincoln, and that's the vibe we're getting here. One thing's for sure, though: We can always count on Spielberg to deliver a must-see movie every single time.

Bridge of Spies hits theaters on October 16, 2015.
