Al Pacino is set to portray the late college football icon Joe Paterno in a film that will chronicle the life of a man who became the winning-est coach in college football history only to see his reputation come crashing down amid a rape scandal involving someone on his coaching staff.
Deadline reports that ICM Partners will begin shopping the movie around town with Pacino's name headlining and Rick Nicita, Pacino's manager, producing.
Paterno was ultimately fired and died shortly after the scandal involving his former defensive co-ordinator Jerry Sandusky, broke. Sandusky was found guilty on 45 counts of sexual abuse against young boys and is expected to spend the rest of his life in prison.
