You need a classy actor with great dignity and poise. But you also need someone who has no problem delivering sudden and hammy outbursts of rage and emotion. That actor, without a doubt, has to be ‘Child 44’ star Gary Oldman. As this list shows, he has that particular market cornered.

Léon: The Professional (1994)

This classic moment has become Oldman’s most famous outburst. Watch it again and fall back in love.

The Fifth Element (1997)

Even with a goofy accent, Oldman cannot hold back his penchant for ire. He seems fun, but I wouldn’t want to cross him.

Air Force One (1997)

To mess with the president’s plane, you need guts and a willingness to do whatever it takes. And a thick Russian accent. Oldman has that in spades. But as you can see in this scene, even all his yelling can’t save him from Harrison Ford’s POTUS.

Sid and Nancy (1986)

This entire performance is like a confused, guttural howl and proves that Oldman always had this sort of thing in him.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2003)

Kids movie? Who cares? Oldman’s still going to bring that thunder. His Sirius Black contains a lot of warmth, but when it’s time to get angry, as he does in this clip, there’s no holding back.

True Romance (1995)

First off, just look at him. Yes, that’s Gary Oldman. Second, find the movie and listen to him. Yep, still Gary Oldman. The guy is incredible.

Hannibal (2001)

Here’s another role where it’s hard to tell that this is actually Gary Oldman. Until he gets angry. Then you know right away whom you’re dealing with. Listen to him laugh at those pigs.

Immortal Beloved (1994)

Beethoven was deaf. Beethoven was a genius. And Beethoven was angry. Who better to play him than Oldman?

Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1992)

We get all these different iterations of Dracula, but they all have that Oldman charm. The old Dracula in particular has become iconic. He doesn’t yell. He doesn’t need to.

State of Grace (1990)

So much yelling! So much violence! This crime drama is full of Gary Oldman outbursts, and it’s great.

Tiptoes (2003)

In all honesty, this isn’t a sudden angry outburst kind of role. Instead, Oldman loses a whole different kind of cool in this is a movie where he plays a little person simply by putting his knees in some shoes.
