TARZAN’S GREATEST ADVENTURE, 1959, Warner Bros., 88 min. John Guillermin directed this, one of the all-time best Tarzan pictures, entirely shot on African locations. Psychotic Anthony Quayle and his band of cutthroats (including Sean Connery) go on the rampage prior to a diamond robbery. Saddled with a stranded pilot (Sara Shane), Gordon Scott’s Tarzan tracks Quayle – a former nemesis – and his cronies through the jungle till the savage end.

TARZAN ESCAPES, 1936, Warner Bros., 89 min. Dir. Richard Thorpe. One of the best of the Johnny Weismuller Tarzan films was regarded at the time as exceedingly violent. Like KING KONG, some scenes judged too intense were cut before release. Jane’s cousins, intent on finding her, enlist the help of nefarious hunter, Captain Fry. But Fry sees dollar signs if he can bring Tarzan back alive to exhibit in England. With Maureen O’Sullivan.
