Superpowers, and How to Get Them

In 'Lucy,' Scarlett Johansson is transporting drugs that leak into her body, giving her incredible abilities. Don't do drugs, kids! Here are some other ways you can give yourself superpowers, at least according to the movies.

We're not talking about plain old nuclear radiation here. That stuff will kill you. But if you can find yourself on the receiving end of some sweet gamma rays, you can become something special. Just ask the Hulk – nicely, if you please.

Ready for some awesome powers, freaky looks and rampant persecution from humankind? Then this is the way to go. In fact, you may already be a mutant and just not know it.

Get yourself some "vita-rays" and a dose of some mystery serum, and bam: now you're a super-soldier, just like Captain America. Uncle Sam's got all kinds of things in store for you. Just sign this form.

Superman would have been a regular Joe on Krypton, right? But put him on Earth and wow! The same might happen to us puny Earthlings, provided that we ever make it outside of our own solar system.

It doesn't matter whether they're the sparkly kind or the sunlight-averse kind. Vampires have tons of cool powers. If you want to join their ranks, just ask one. We hear most are quite willing to bite.

Though some insist you must be born with magic blood, we bet even a muggle like you could get somewhere with a wand, a cauldron and a little hocus pocus.

Maybe you're one of the Incredibles or a student at Sky High. Or perhaps you've got a bit of the family magic and are awaiting your invitation to Hogwarts. In either case, there's nothing wrong with being "born this way."

If you're willing to give up a little of your humanity, then you can join all the RoboCops, Terminators and Inspector Gadgets of the world, and revel in your super-strength and near-invulnerability.

In a computer-generated world, you can do all kinds of amazing things. To wit: the characters in 'The Matrix,' 'Tron' and even 'Wreck-It Ralph.' Though we do suggest frequent backups.

Rings are the most convenient – Frodo Baggins and Green Lantern swear by them – but magical objects come in many forms, from Jim Carrey's mask to Adam Sandler's remote control to Judy Garland's red slippers.

Don't believe in the supernatural, but have access to million-dollar technology? Then you can be like Batman, James Bond, et al. Load up on gadgets (and gadget-filled vehicles) and you're as good as superpowered.

Running through brick walls, swallowing a stick of dynamite, falling off a cliff…You name it, animated characters can survive it. They're basically immortal.

Speaking of immortals, who has more powers than the Almighty? You don't even have to be THE God. You can be any god from any mythology – Greek, Roman, Norse, etc. They're pretty exclusive clubs, but membership has its privileges.
