Long before directing 'And So It Goes,' Rob Reiner was a fixture in the entertainment business. The son of comedy legend Carl Reiner, Rob quickly stepped out of his famous father’s shadow and became a legend all on his own. Here are a few highlights from Rob Reiner’s amazing career.
Enter Laughing (1967)
One of Reiner's earliest acting roles was in the first film his father ever directed, 'Enter Laughing.'
The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour (1967)
Before making it big as an actor, Reiner made his living as one of the writers on the staff of "The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour" working alongside many up and coming talents, including Steve Martin.
All in the Family (1971)
Reiner became a weekly staple on television when he played Michael "Meathead" Stivic on Norman Lear's hit sitcom "All in the Family."
This Is Spinal Tap (1984)
In 1984 Reiner cowrote, directed and starred in the cult music mockumentary 'This is Spinal Tap' -- a film that left fans around the world forever wanting to turn it up to 11.
The Sure Thing (1985)
Reiner directed John Cusack, Daphne Zuniga and Nicollette Sheridan in the classic '80s cross-country romp 'The Sure Thing.'
Stand By Me (1986)
Continuing his career behind the camera, Reiner directed a stellar cast of kids, including a very young River Phoenix, in the classic coming-of-age flick 'Stand By Me,' which was based on a Stephen King short story.
The Princess Bride (1987)
Next Reiner turned his attention to directing a classic fairy tale -- one that included sword fights, giants and a six-fingered man... inconceivable!
When Harry Met Sally (1989)
Reiner made his mark on the Rom-Com genre when he directed Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan (as well as his mother, Estelle "I'll have what she's having" Reiner) in the runaway hit 'When Harry Met Sally.'
Misery (1990)
For the second movie based on the writing of Stephen King, Rob directed 'Misery,' where he showed the darker side of fan worship.
A Few Good Men (1992)
Directing the military court drama 'A Few Good Men,' Reiner showed us that there are times when "you can't handle the truth."
North (1994)
Reiner directed the film 'North,' which tells the story of an 11-year-old boy who files a lawsuit against his parents, then sets off on a journey to find new ones.
The American President (1995)
With 'The American President' Reiner showed the world that dating isn't all that easy... even if you live in the White House.
Ghosts of Mississippi (1996)
Reiner directed 'Ghosts of Mississippi,' which told the story of murdered civil rights leader Medgar Evers' wife and her battle to finally bring her husband's killer to justice.
The Bucket List (2007)
After such an amazing career the only thing left to check off on Rob Reiner's bucket list was to direct the film 'Bucket List' -- which he did in 2007.
