Spotlight on: Peter Dinklage

Peter Dinklage may be best known for his starring role in HBO’s ‘Game of Thrones,’ but he’s also had an impressive film run. From ‘X-Men:  Days of Future Past’ to ‘Elf’ – here are some of his most memorable movie roles.

In this breakout role as Finbar McBride, a man who finds himself the sudden owner of a railroad depot in New Jersey, Dinklage earned leading actor noms from the Independent Spirit Awards and the SAG Awards.

As Miles Finch, a successful author of children’s books, Dinklage is comically outraged when mistaken for one of Santa’s elves by Will Ferrell.

In this courtroom comedy based on a true story, Dinklage plays a defense attorney who takes on a mob family that counts Vin Diesel as one of its members.

As the heroic Trumpkin the Red Dwarf, Dinklage wore a beard made of yak hair and so much makeup that he was rendered virtually unrecognizable – even to himself.

In this rom-com starring Kate Hudson as a woman dying of cancer, Dinklage plays a suave and seductive male escort who describes himself as “a little bit of heaven.”

Since Peter Dinklage is basically the King of Badassdom in real life, it’s only fitting that he takes on an epic battle of mythical creatures as a hard-core LARPer in this comedy-horror flick.

Dinklage starred in both the 1997 British version and the 2010 American remake as a former… uh… “friend” of the deceased, intent on blackmailing the man’s mourning family.

As a fan of the ‘X-Men’ films, Dinklage was thrilled to join the cast as the evil genius and supervillain Boliver Trask, creator of the Sentinels and whose assassination in the past sets in motion events of the future. 

The late Robin Williams played a dying man and Dinklage was the brother he pushed aside in this film based on the 1997 Israeli film ‘The 92 Minutes of Mr. Baum.’

As Eddie “The Fire Blaster” Plant, Dinklage’s got game as he battles evil classic arcade characters like Pac-Man and Donkey Kong in this high-concept sci-fi comedy directed by Chris Columbus.
