Schwarzenegger's Women: From Sharon Stone to Vanessa Williams
With Sabotage featuring forceful actresses Olivia Williams and Mireille Enos supporting Arnold Schwarzenegger, let's pay our respects to the other notable women who starred opposite the Austrian Oak.
Sharon Stone, TOTAL RECALL (1990)
Sharon Stone's role as Douglas Quaid's duplicitous wife Lori put her on Hollywood's A-list; Lori, of course, receives one of Arnie's most quotable kiss-off lines – "Consider that a divorce!"
Jamie Lee Curtis, TRUE LIES (1994)
Harry and Helen Tasker's relationship has its own complications – since Harry is a top-secret spy. As Helen, Jamie Lee Curtis's notorious striptease divided audiences along expected lines.
Rita Wilson, JINGLE ALL THE WAY (1996)
Arnold Schwarzenegger's foray into the holiday movie genre has not yet become an annual tradition, but we're hoping! Rita Wilson plays his frazzled spouse Liz; at least this marriage doesn't involve gunplay.
Kelly Preston, TWINS (1988)
Twins gives us Arnold at his most charming, and no one is more charmed than Kelly Preston's Marnie Mason, wooed by Schwarzenegger's big-hearted Julius. Preston, of course, would go on to be Mrs. John Travolta.
Alyssa Milano, COMMANDO (1985)
Not all of Arnold Schwarzenegger's leading ladies are romantic interests. Take, for instance, Alyssa Milano, just 12 years old when she played his kidnapped daughter in this over-the-top crowd pleaser.
Grace Jones, CONAN THE DESTROYER (1984)
Cult singer Grace Jones was also a fleeting action star in the '80s. Here she plays Zula, a bandit who befriends Schwarzenegger's Conan. Alas, the only sparks between them are those that fly out of their weapons.
Sandahl Bergman, CONAN THE BARBARIAN (1982)
Conan spends much of Conan the Destroyer pining for his lover Valeria, whom he met in this, the first Conan movie. After one look at the six-foot-tall Sandahl Bergman, can you blame him?
Brigitte Nielsen, RED SONJA (1984)
Brigitte Nielsen – remembered for her tabloid-friendly marriage to Sylvester Stallone – holds her own as the vengeance-seeking Red Sonja. Arnie is mostly just along for the ride as her devoted protector Kalidor.
Emma Thompson, JUNIOR (1994)
Many would agree that Emma Thompson is a step up from Brigitte Nielsen. In between her Oscar wins, this British thespian found time to romp around with Schwarzenegger in this comedy about the world's first pregnant man.
Penelope Ann Miller, KINDERGARTEN COP (1990)
Penelope Ann Miller plays the ex-wife of a criminal pursued by Detective John Kimble (Schwarzenegger), who's masquerading as a fellow teacher. She and Kimble wind up pursuing each other more amorously.
Linda Hamilton, THE TERMINATOR (1984) and TERMINATOR 2: JUDGMENT DAY (1991)
There's certainly no love between Linda Hamilton's Sarah Connor and the 1984-era Terminator, but a begrudging respect forms between her and the 1991 sequel's more helpful T-800.
Kristanna Loken, TERMINATOR 3: RISE OF THE MACHINES (2003)
The statuesque Kristanna Loken was plucked from obscurity to play the ruthless – and well-wired – T-X Terminator opposite Schwarzenegger, in his last leading role before being elected Governor of California.
Vanessa Williams, ERASER (1996)
In her film debut, Vanessa Williams, the former Miss America turned singer/actress, shows tremendous on-screen chemistry with Schwarzenegger, even if the relationship between their characters never becomes romantic.
Ann-Margret, THE VILLAIN (1979)
One of Arnie's earliest roles was in this cartoonish Western comedy, a vehicle for Kirk Douglas but memorable for the oddball scenes between the young Austrian cowboy and 1960s sex kitten Ann-Margret. A real curio.
Maria Conchita Alonso, THE RUNNING MAN (1987)
The Cuba-born, Venezuela-raised Maria Conchita Alonso was a popular actress throughout the 1980s, also starring in Moscow on the Hudson, Vampire's Kiss, and the controversial Colors.
Uma Thurman, BATMAN & ROBIN (1997)
In this infamous stinker, supervillains Mr. Freeze (Arnold Schwarzenegger) and Poison Ivy (Uma Thurman) become reluctant allies against their common foe Batman (George Clooney).
Loni Anderson, THE JAYNE MANSFIELD STORY (1980)
Early in his career, Schwarzenegger played Hungarian bodybuilder Mickey Hargitay opposite Loni Anderson's Jayne Mansfield in this TV movie. Actress Mariska Hargitay is the daughter of the real-life Mickey and Jayne.
