Little brother driving you crazy? Big sister always picking on you? These real-life siblings share an added bond – they’ve worked together on the big screen. So stop pestering your sister and let’s take a look at real siblings in movies.
John Cusack and Joan Cusack
These siblings from Illinois have a long list of movies between them. As for the credits they share, some of their most memorable on-screen appearances include: 'Sixteen Candles' (1984), 'Broadcast News' (1987), 'Say Anything...' (1989), 'Grosse Pointe Blank' (1997) and 'High Fidelity' (2000).
Jake Gyllenhaal and Maggie Gyllenhaal
These siblings aren’t the only famous ones in the family – their mother is producer/screenwriter Naomi Foner and their father is director Stephen Gyllenhaal. Jake and Maggie have starred together in 'A Dangerous Woman' (1993), 'Homegrown' (1998) and 'Donnie Darko' (2001), with the first two flicks directed by their dad.
The Marx Brothers
Over the course of 20 years, Chico, Groucho, Harpo and Zeppo Marx starred in over 35 movies, most with one or more of their siblings. Some of their more famous films are: 'The Cocoanuts' (1921), 'Duck Soup' (1933), 'A Night at the Opera' (1935) and 'A Day at the Races' (1937).
Ben Affleck and Casey Affleck
The boys from Boston have made their city wicked proud, starring together in 'Good Will Hunting' (1997) – for which Ben won a Oscar for Best Screenplay – 'Chasing Amy' (1997) and '200 Cigarettes' (1999). Ben directed his younger brother in the 2007 thriller, 'Gone Baby Gone.'
Jeff Bridges and Beau Bridges
The real-life sibs played brothers and longtime showbiz partners in 'The Fabulous Baker Boys' (1989). Costarring Michelle Pfeiffer, the film earned the Bridges rave reviews.
Luke Wilson, Owen Wilson and Andrew Wilson
These Texan brothers burst onto the scene with 'Bottle Rocket' (1996). They have starred together – in some variation – in such films as 'Charlie’s Angels' (2000), 'The Royal Tenenbaums' (2001), 'Zoolander' (2001), 'Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle' (2003), 'Around the World in 80 Days' (2004) and 'Idiocracy' (2006).
Abigail Breslin and Spencer Breslin
She started her professional acting career 15 years ago and he’s been acting for 18 years.Together, they’ve starred in the features 'Raising Helen' (2003), 'The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement' (2003), 'The Santa Clause 3' (2006) and 'The Perfect Sisters' (2011). We have a feeling we’re going to see a lot more of them in the years to come.
Julia Roberts and Eric Roberts
The Western drama 'Blood Red' (1989) is largely forgettable, except for the presence of actor Eric Roberts starring alongside his Academy Award-winning sister Julia. They may share the same bloodline – and famous lips – but this is the first and only time they’ve shared the big screen.
Dakota Fanning and Elle Fanning
These two young actresses have amassed quite a lot of credits between them, including three of the 'Twilight' films (2009-2012) and 'Maleficent' (2014). The two also appeared in 'I Am Sam' (2001), with Elle playing the younger version of Dakota's character.
Charlie Sheen and Emilio Estevez
There was a time when the Brat Pack brothers were everywhere. They appeared in several films, including: 'Young Guns' (1988), 'Men at Work' (1990), 'Loaded Weapon 1' (1993) and 'Rated X' (2000).
Linda Hamilton and Leslie Hamilton Gearren
In James Cameron’s sci-fi action hit 'Terminator 2: Judgment Day' (1991), star Linda Hamilton had her twin sister play the role of a T-1000 duplicating her character. Could’ve fooled us.
Macauley Culkin, Kieran Culkin and Rory Culkin
These young actors have been around since the '90s, when Mac famously made 'Home Alone' (1990). Together, they have starred – in some combination – in 'Home Alone,' 'Home Alone 2' (1992), 'Richie Rich' (1994), 'Igby Goes Down' (2002) and 'Lymelife' (2008).
And saving the best for last...
Oh, brother! Sibs Dennis and Randy Quaid starred together in the Western 'The Long Riders' (1980), along with actor David Carradine and his half-brothers Keith and Robert. Actor Stacy Keach and his younger brother, James, also appear in the film, along with Christopher Guest and his brother, Nicholas.
