Our Favorite Party Movies

With 'We Are Your Friends' hitting theaters this weekend, starring Zac Efron as a DJ hopeful making his way around the L.A. party circuit, we take a look at some of our favorite party movies ever. So come on in, have a (few) drinks and let's get this party started!

The granddaddy of all college party movies, with a toga party so out of hand it (as Neidermeyer put it) "received more than two dozen reports of individual acts of perversion." Do not try this at your fraternity or you too may get expelled.

In theory, the "party" part comes at the end of Dazed and Confused where all the kids congregate on the first night of summer break for a rager at the Moon Tower. But really, this whole movie is a 103-minute party, with underage kids doing all kinds of stuff that might not make their parents proud (although if those parents recall, hey, they were kids once, too).

Long before he felt the need to be respectable, Tom Hanks was a wild man in 'Bachelor Party,' barely containing his gaggle of fellow heathens from literally tearing down the walls in one of cinema's most ridiculous and hedonistic parties ever committed to R-rated celluloid.

Say 'Old School' and you probably immediately conjure up an image of Frank the Tank (Will Ferrell) and the streaking scene. Or maybe it's the tranquilizer to the neck or Blue's wrestling match. Whatever it is, filmmaker Todd Phillips found the right formula in the first of the ongoing trend of modern party movies.

Three kids want to make a name for themselves by throwing a party for one of their birthdays. There's not much to this one, other than hot chicks, kegs of beer and, oh yeah, a car in the pool. 

Wouldn't it just be too cool if your Jacuzzi could actually take you to any past period you wanted? John Cusack, Craig Robinson, Clark Duke and Rob Corddry hit up the '80s, back on one fateful weekend that could have disastrous consequences.

Justin Long stars as a slacker who gets rejected from every college he applies to, much to the dismay of his overexpectant parents. So he creates the "S. Hampton Institute of Technology" and viola, he's accepted. Before long things spiral out of control when hundreds of his fellow rejects turn up at his front door.

This movie spawned one the best cameos ever with Matt Damon as a rocker singing "Scotty Doesn't Know." The story takes off from there with a freshly dumped high school grad embarking on an unforgettable journey through Europe with some of his best buds. 'Eurotrip,' much like 'Fast Times at Ridgemont High,' plays out like one extended party sequence.

John Hughes' '80s classic is known more for the sweet romance between Samantha and Jake, but Jake throws a pretty epic party involving pizzas used as records, Jake's drunk girlfriend's hair, and lots and lots of booze. 

Two dorky guys decide to create the perfect woman. Sounds harmless enough, right? In this case, that perfect woman is Kelly LeBrock and she immediately catches the attention of our dweeb hereoes, and also a young Robert Downey Jr. Will the little guys prevail at an out-of-control house party, or will their perfect woman slip out of their hands?

Hip-hop duo Kid 'N Play brought the house down with this 1990 classic that in fact, between all the music and slapstick humor, had some good messages -- like practicing safe sex and not driving while drunk. 

The highest grossing R-rated comedy of all time (followed closely by its sequel), 'The Hangover' introduced the world to Zach Galifianakis and turned Ed Helms and Bradley Cooper into big stars. 

The movie that will forever change your perception of cream-filled pastries, Ryan Reynolds stars as the titular Van Wilder, a seven-year (and counting) college student who'd rather throw parties than study -- until dad decides enough is enough.

The film that launched McLovin'. Around the time this movie hit theaters, Michael Cera and Jonah Hill were moderately well-known comedic actors. But then, with the flash of one Hawaii driver's license, Christopher Mintz-Plasse was forever immortalized as the 25-year-old Hawaiian organ donor. Chika chika.

The late '90s brought us this multicharacter teenage party flick about a bunch of high school grads who have different agendas on grad night, including Ethan Embry trying to woo a young Jennifer Love Hewitt. Oh yeah, and then there's Jason Segel and his vodka watermelon.
