When we first met Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson and in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone – aka Harry, Ron and Hermione – they were such cute little kids, braving perilous Hogwarts adventures. Now, they're all grown up and after Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 is released, that's the last we'll see of their Potter experience. They've already started fresh projects in film, theater and modeling. Find out what they're working on now, and, as well as what some of the other key cast members are up to. First, the trio...
Harry Potter/Daniel Radcliffe
The stalwart boy wizard’s gone from childlike bewilderment, to pubescent resentment, to grown-up determination to rid the wizardry world of its most evil denizen, Lord Voldemort. Radcliffe has ventured away from Harry a few times, starring in indie December Boys and even getting full-frontal in a stage production of Equus. Now he's singing on Broadway in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.
What’s next? Radcliffe recently announced his role in indie project The Amateur Photographer and is attached to remake All Quiet on the Western Front.
Hermione Granger/Emma Watson
At age 11, Watson made her film debut as the precocious, fiercely loyal Hermione Granger and hasn't looked back. In the last 10 years, Watson put her studies at Brown University on hold and stuck close to the Potter franchise, only branching out vocal talents to the animated The Tales of Despereaux. With an interest in art and fashion, she became the face of Burberry and collaborated with People Tree, a fair trade fashion brand.
What’s next? Good riddance, Harry Potter! Emma's hitting the books again and pursuing a good education (not unlike her character Hermione). She won't be vanishing from film though; look out for her next roles in My Week with Marilyn and The Perks of Being a Wallflower.
Ron Weasley/Rupert Grint
Grint, too, made his big-screen debut as Harry's ever-faithful best pal Ron Weasley, who comes from a big, gregarious family of witches and wizards. Like Radcliffe, Grint has done a few indie movies including Driving Lessons,Cherrybomb and Wild Target
What’s next? He's set to star in English soccer film Wartime Wanderers, which takes place during WWII.
Draco Malfoy/Tom Felton
Felton got his start in film playing Jodie Foster's young son in the 1999 Anna and the King, but soon became known to the world as Harry Potter's rival Draco Malfoy.
What’s next? Look for him later this year in Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Apparition with Ashley Greene.
Cedric Diggory/Robert Pattinson
By now, most of the world knows the name Robert Pattinson, thanks to his mega-successful vampire romance Twilight. But before he wooed Kristen Stewart's Bella, Pattinson played Hogwarts hero Cedric Diggory in Goblet of Fire, who met his end at the Dark Lord’s hands.
What’s next? The last two installments of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn.
Ginny Weasley/Bonnie Wright
The young Wright began her career in the Potter family as Ginny Weasley, the youngest yet smartest and bravest of the Weasley clan. In Chamber of Secrets, Ginny is the hapless conduit for Voldemort's nefarious activities but is eventually saved by her hero Harry. In fact, Ginny got her wish to be much more than just Harry's friend.
What’s next? Wright is off to Indonesia to film her next film The Philosophers, a psychological thriller that revolves around an international school.
Prof. Albus Dumbledore/Michael Gambon
Gambon is a veteran, having been in more than 100 TV shows and movies throughout his career, but he'll forever be remembered (by Potter fans) for taking on the role of Prof. Dumbledore after its originator, Richard Harris, passed away.
What’s next? Catch him in his first U.S. series, HBO's Luck, which takes a look at the horseracing industry.
Prof. Severus Snape/Alan Rickman
American audiences were first introduced to the talented Rickman as villain Hans Gruber in the 1988 Die Hard,, and gotten to know him in films like Sense and Sensibility,Galaxy Quest and Love, Actually. He jumped aboard the Hogwarts Express as the dark and moody Prof. Snape, former Voldemort cohort and now Hogwarts Headmaster.
What’s next? He's filming crime-comedy Gambit with Cameron Diaz and Colin Firth.
Rubeus Hagrid/Robbie Coltrane
Coltrane is mostly a veteran of British television, rising to fame in the long-running detective series “Cracker,” and has also starred in films such as Ocean's Twelve,The World Is Not Enough and The Brothers Bloom. We know and love him best as the kindly half-giant Hagrid who's a loyal friend to Harry.
What's next? He'll lend his voice talents to Pixar for Brave, opening in 2012.
Bellatrix Lestrange/Helena Bonham Carter
Bonham Carter began her career with the 1985 Ivory/Merchant period film A Room with a View and has since amassed a colorful resume, including Fight Club,Sweeney Todd, and The King's Speech. She joined the Potter club playing Sirius Black's evil cousin and murderer, Bellatrix Lestrange.
What's next? Another Tim Burton-Johnny Depp collaboration! Helena stars as Dr. Julia Hoffman in Dark Shadows, a vampire-horror tale with Depp as the bloodsucker.
Alastor "Mad-Eye" Moody/Brendan Gleeson
This Irish actor got his film start in 1995's Braveheart, and has since appeared in Gangs of New York,28 Days Later and In Bruges. As Mad-Eye Moody, he's perhaps the best Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher Hogwarts ever had.
What's next? Catch Gleeson in The Guard, wherein he stars alongside Don Cheadle as a racist, bumbling cop. Also, he'll be voice acting for the new stop-motion, 3D animated film The Pirates!
Sirius Black/Gary Oldman
Oldman came on the scene as Sid Vicious in the intense 1986 Sid and Nancy and quickly made a name for himself in films such as Bram Stoker's Dracula,The Professional, and The Dark Knight. He even did the voice of Shen in Kung Fu Panda 2. Potter fans, however, know him as Sirius Black, Harry’s benevolent godfather and would-be father figure – until he is viciously killed by Bellatrix.
What’s next? He reprises his role as Commissioner Jim Gordon in The Dark Knight Rises.
Dolores Umbridge/Imelda Staunton
Another long-standing veteran of British TV, Staunton got film notice when she starred as the Nurse in the Oscar-winning Shakespeare in Love. She then gained Oscar cred with her nominated turn as a 1950s abortionist in Vera Drake, and recently took to the London stage for A Delicate Balance. As the tut-tutting Dolores Umbridge, Staunton took masochism to a whole new level.
What’s next? She lends her voice talents as Mrs. Santa in Arthur Christmas and The Pirates!
Lord Voldemort/Ralph Fiennes
Finally, we come to darkest wizard of all time: Lord Voldemort, the cause of all of Harry's recurring problems. Having disappeared after his “Avada Kedavra” death spell against baby Harry Potter went awry, Voldemort orchestrated his return. Now, he's amassed his followers for an all-out war.
What’s next? He'll return to the London stage to play Prospero in Shakespeare's The Tempest and reprise his role as Hades for Clash of the Titans 2.
