Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011)
In this reboot of the sci-fi classic, it's chimps, gorillas, orangutans and bonobos that rise up against humans and take over San Francisco -- culminating in a climatic battle atop the Golden Gate Bridge.
Les Miserables (2012)
Two years after the actual French Revolution of 1830, another true uprising was attempted in Paris, and fictionalized factions joined the fight in this Oscar-winning musical based on Victor Hugo's novel.
Divergent (2014)
With this YA adaptation, the seeds to a revolution are planted when Tris Prior sees the fault in the dystopian society she's born into and becomes a rebel with a cause for nonconformity. The uprising begins as the movie ends, but we have to wait for the sequels to see where that goes.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 (2014)
