Normally, comic-book movies instantly get sequels. But no one knew, for sure, that Kick-Ass would earn a second feature because the first movie was so strange and deliriously off-putting. Thankfully, enough people dug the dark humor. All the stars return, but the big news is the addition of Jim Carrey as Colonel Stars and Stripes.
Roland Emmerich loves destroying America’s landmarks, and here he’s going after a previous target – the White House – in his terrorist thriller that stars Channing Tatum as a Secret Service agent tasked with protecting the U.S. President (Jamie Foxx).
Despicable Me 2

Adam Sandler, Kevin James, David Spade, Chris Rock and Rob Schneider are all back as childhood buddies, this time tasked with taking on a cocky group of frat boys including Nick Swardson and Taylor Lautner.
Guillermo del Toro brings us this sci-fi action flick featuring giant robots and monsters doing battle and a band of heroic fighters led by Idris Elba, Charlie Hunnam and Rinko Kikuchi, who seek to prevent an apocalypse from occurring.
Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga star in this story about demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren, two of the first paranormal investigators involved in the Amityville haunting. The new film takes place prior to the Amityville events.
Jeff Bridges and Ryan Reynolds star in this adaptation of the comic book, Rest in Peace Department. The story follows a slain young cop who joins a team of undead police officers to try and find the man who murdered him.

Hugh Jackman returns as the quick-tempered, adamantium-clawed mutant Wolverine as he journeys to Japan in James Mangold's adaptation of a Chris Claremont-Frank Miller story arc that sees Logan battling The Silver Samurai and ninjas.
The follow-up to Zack Snyder’s 300 (penned by Snyder) is said to tell the story of Greek General Themistocles and his battle against Persian invaders at the same time as 300’s Battle of Thermopylae.
Bruce Willis, Mary-Louise Parker, Helen Mirren and John Malkovich are back for a second turn in this action comedy which welcomes Catherine Zeta-Jones and Lee Byung-hun to the cast.
Gargamel’s up to his usual dastardly deeds, here creating smurf-like baddies called The Naughties, who kidnap Smurfette, take her to Paris, and try to get her to be a bad girl smurf. It’s up to Papa Smurf, Clumsy, Grouchy and Vanity, along with their human friends, to rescue her and save the day.
Matt Damon leads a future rebellion in the year 2159, where poor people are confined to a decrepit Earth while the rich are allowed to inhabit a clean, man-made station called Elysium. District 9’s Neill Blomkamp directs.

Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters

Lily Collins and Jaime Campbell Bower appear in this first adaptation of the popular young adult fantasy book series, which concern teenager Clary Fray, who discovers that she is descended from a line of Shadowhunters, a secret group of half-angel warriors.
This well-reviewed horror/thriller concerns a group of twisted killers who set their sights on a family reunion at a remote location. What they don’t realize is that one of the family’s guests is anything but a victim, and is ready and willing to fight back with her own special set of skills.
Eric Bana and Rebecca Hall star in this tale of two former lovers whose lives are put at risk when they’re joined together on the defense team at a terrorism trial.
Ethan Hawke’s a burnt out race car driver who’s forced to put the pedal to the metal to save his kidnapped wife. Watched by hidden cameras in his car and forced by an unknown voice to follow directions or else, Hawke’s only ally is a young female hacker in the passenger seat.
Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne return in this second installment as parents whose son was possessed by a demon in the first installment, and who still find their lives affected by something sinister. Saw director James Wan and screenwriter Leigh Wannell also return for the project.
One Direction Concert Movie

The hugely popular musical act – over 13+ million records sold worldwide and counting – star in their first movie, presented as a 3D concert film that should be the next best thing to being there for the pop outfit’s legion of fans.
Director David Twohy and star Vin Diesel reunite for another adventure involving Riddick, the dangerous convict left for dead on a seemingly lifeless planet. When alien predators close in on him, Riddick is forced to activate a beacon that draws bounty hunters back to the planet to find him.
Lost star Josh Holloway is featured as a former basketball coach who’s asked by a friend to change his game plan and coach American B-boys preparing to win breakdancing’s Battle of the Year, and bring the championship – held annually in France – back home to the U.S.
Aaron Eckhart heads up the cast in this action thriller about a Frankenstein monster named Adam who’s lived through the centuries and now finds himself caught up in a long-standing battle between two immortal clans.
Prisoners

Ron Howard directs Thor star Chris Hemsworth as Englishman James Hunt and Daniel Bruhl as Austrian Niki Lauda – two of sports’ greatest rivals and Formula 1 Racing all-stars in the 1970s. During their prime, the men competed at the limit of their abilities on the race track and off.
George Lucas’ second episode in the Stars Wars prequels finds Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) developing on his path as a Jedi knight, and focusing on his relationship with Padme Amidala (Natalie Portman) – presented here on the big screen in larger-than-life 3D.

Sin City: A Dame to Kill For

Robert Rodriguez finally brings us the sequel to his 2005 cult hit, Sin City. Rodriguez has said the film will contain two original stories along with adaptations of A Dame to Kill For and Just Another Saturday Night. Jessica Alba, Roasrio Dawson and Mickey Rourke are among returning cast members.
The fall movie season also sees the 3D release of the last in George Lucas’ Star Wars prequels, as Anakin Skywalker takes the final steps in his destiny to become Darth Vader, and the seeds of the future rebellion are sown with the births of Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia.
Hold on to your life vests. Paul Greengrass, famous for his fast-paced action-dramas United 93 and Supremacy and Ultimatum in the Bourne franchise, directs Tom Hanks in the title role about the true story of a man whose ship was overtaken by Somali pirates. Catherine Keener co-stars.
Spike Lee delivers his take on the Chan-wook Park cult classic, casting Josh Brolin in the lead role and Sharlto Copley as the villain. Elizabeth Olsen plays the love interest and Samuel L. Jackson co-stars.
The classic horror film is updated for the post millennium, with Chloe Grace Moretz cast as shy, lonely teen Carrie, whose painful adolescence is made more dangerous and scary by her unique telekinetic powers. Julianne Moore takes on the role of Carrie’s oppressive, stifling mother.
Malavita

Luc Besson’s action/comedy/drama features Robert De Niro, Michelle Pfeiffer and Tommy Lee Jones in the tale of a mafia family relocated to Normandy under the witness protection program. The Seventh Son

Jeff Bridges stars as a knight whose worst fears comes true when Julianne Moore’s evil witch, whom he had imprisoned hundreds of years ago, returns with a vengeance. It’s up to Bridges to mentor apprentice Ben Barnes, the seventh son of a seventh son, in time to save the world from eternal darkness.
The plot has yet to be revealed, but you can sure that lots of possessed folks, supernatural spirits, and lots of found footage and camera angles will be involved.
