Will FerrellThough Will Ferrell has starred in more sports comedies than one cares to count, that’s not the world record he’s looking to break. No, in honor of the new DreamWorks animated film Megamind (which stars the voices of Ferrell, Brad Pitt and Tina Fey), Ferrell wants to stage the largest gathering of superheroes ever in one place. There’s no word on what the current Guinness World Record is for a gathering of superheroes, though a press release states that upwards of 1,500 people must attend dressed in costume in order for the record to be broken.

Any and all people who want to help Will Ferrell attempt to break this strange world record will have to show up at the L.A. Live Theater on October 2nd at 8 a.m. Seems a bit early for me on a Saturday morning, but that shouldn’t stop you from throwing on your best cape and mask and heading down to the theater to help a friend in need (and to see Will Ferrell dressed up in his blue Megamind get-up).

In order to participate, you must be dressed as a “recognizable superhero that has appeared in a published book, comic, television program of film,” so no homemade “Bathroom Man” costumes please.

Do you think he’ll break the record? Will you attend the event? If so, which character will you be dressing up as? Megamind hits theaters on November 5th.
