"Jackass 3D"

While everyone figured Jackass 3D would win the weekend (including yours truly, who in no way wanted to be a jackass and bet against it), no one really expected the film to break records. But with $50 million, Jackass 3D not only won the weekend by a very large margin, but it also broke a record for the biggest October opening ever! Not to mention it also landed in ninth place on the list of biggest openings for an R-rated film. Damn…obviously people like to still watch a bunch of immature men tackle the most absurd stunts and suffer extreme pain all in the spirit of a few laughs.

Even with Jackass 3D's monster opening (which, realistically, we need to chalk up to 3D since, according to sources, it accounted for 90% of the film's grosses), the comic adaptation Red still managed to carve out a nice $22 million for second place, helping to boot The Social Network ($11 million) out of first place and into third.
Our question to you, though, is this: Was Jackass 3D the best film that opened this weekend, or did Fandango readers prefer the more star-heavy, action-packed Red? Did the right film win the weekend, or did it just get lucky because it happened to be the only film in 3D? Sound off in our poll below and in the comments with your thoughts…
