So far the buildup toward The Hunger Games: Mockingjay -- Part 1 has been one of our favorite movie campaigns of the year. The marketing folks have done some creepy, subtle and even subversive things with their poster art so far, and the teaser trailers have all done a restrained job of, well, teasing. With the movie due in just about three months (tickets go on sale this October 29!), Lionsgate has decided to move away from teasing in order to show something more substantial.
And fans are going to be very happy they did. Check out the first full-length trailer below.
The Hunger Games continues to be one of the most surprising blockbuster franchises around. Catching Fire really elevated the material from the first film, setting up a story of high-stakes underdog revolution that hasn't really been seen on the big screen since The Matrix series. And now director Francis Lawrence has returned to keep stoking those fires, to show what happens to Katniss Everdeen once the Capitol truly pushes her to the edge, and how Panem has finally reached its breaking point.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay -- Part 1 hits theaters on November 21, 2014. For much more on Mockingjay - Part 1, its characters and the world, check out the film's very cool (and ultra-stylish) official website.
