Celebratory partygoers who tuned their televisions in to New Year’s Eve coverage from New York City caught a glimpse of something special: a Times Square tease of an electrifying battle between Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield) and Electro (Jamie Foxx) from this summer’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Did you catch it? Watch below, with a bonus introduction from Stan “The Man” Lee!

Times Square seems like a natural spot for a villain with Electro’s powers to head. And I love the shot of Foxx bending over to grasp power chords, just to absorb the raw energy that courses through each cable.

Obviously, that means big trouble for everyone’s favorite wall crawler, and the quick clip ends with a shot of Spidey catching a cop car… which was the focus of the ASM 2 footage shown in Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con.

We are hearing big things about the Times Square battle in Marc Webb’s sequel. The director shut down parts of Manhattan’s enormous tourist destination to film in an authentic setting. And Spidey is part of the fabric of New York City. The sequence has the potential to be epic.

But we have to wait. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 kicks off the summer season on May 2. Last night was but a tease. Did you catch it? Do you like it? Let us know below!
