The first trailer for J. C. Chandor’s A Most Violent Year—set during the winter of 1981, one of the most violent years on record in New York City -- has now arrived online, and it may be looking to join the Oscar race.

Inside Llewyn Davis' Oscar Isaac stars opposite Jessica Chastain in what looks to be a moody, caustic picture. According to IMDb, the film is “centered on a the lives of an immigrant and his family trying to expand their business and capitalize on opportunities as the rampant violence, decay and corruption of the day drag them in and threaten to destroy all they have built.”
