There aren't very many movie franchises that can confidently lay claim to release dates that are years and years away. Star Wars gets to do it. Superhero movies get to do it. That's basically it. Every other franchise, whether it's Toy Story or The Hangover, has to take sequels one movie at a time.

Every other franchise except for The Fast and the Furious, that is.

The series that keeps on defying all expectations already had an April 14, 2017 release date for Fast 8, but now star and producer Vin Diesel has gone ahead and announced dates for Fast 9 on April 19, 2019 and Fast 10 on April 2, 2021. That is no doubt bold. Heck, even Star Wars hasn't officially announced movies as far reaching as 2021.

As of right now the only one of these that has any concrete info is Fast 8, which we know will be directed by F. Gary Gray (Straight Outta Compton) and will bring back Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris and series newcomers Jason Statham and Kurt Russell. We also know that at some point they're going to wreck vehicular havoc all over Iceland. That's about it at this stage.

The two-year gap between the main movies is noteworthy, though, considering there's also been talk of the Fast series giving individual characters spin-off movies, so it's entirely possible that we'll actually get even more entries in the near future. Sure, that gap may just be to help prevent franchise fatigue, but it also allows for spin-off movies on the off years (or maybe even a TV show). We don't know for sure that will happen, but considering we'd watch any of these characters get their own solo movie, it's fun to dream about.
