I’m a hopeless romantic, I believe there’s a "lid for every pot." And as a mom who's watched endless hours of family movies with my kid, it got me wondering what some of the most popular characters might do out there in the dating world. Would Captain Hook hook up with Mrs. Potts? Would Wreck-It Ralph crush on Tinkerbell?

So, for the benefit of moms and dads with a silly streak, imagine if you will…

Voldermort (Harry Potter) and Joy (Inside Out)

They say "opposites attract" and that must explain how Voldermort the Dark Lord hooks up with the ever-joyful Joy. Unfortunately, their first date at Starbucks hits a snag when the barista refuses to write Voldermort’s name on his cup.

Pinocchio and Mrs. Doubtfire

One of the benefits of online dating? Pinocchio was able to lie on his profile without his nose giving him away -- claiming he’s a “Real Boy” looking for a “Real Woman.” Jokes on him when Mrs. Doubtfire answers his ad. Their first date is at an Olive Garden where they enjoy a plate of spaghetti a la Lady and the Tramp.

Dorothy and E.T.

They grew up a million light years away from each other, but Dorothy Gale and E.T. hit it off on their first date at the Emerald City Café. They’re also both homebodies -- and after about an hour out they both long to head home. While Dorothy clicks her ruby red slippers and repeats, “There’s no place like home,” E.T. simply calls an Uber on his cell.

Mary Poppins and WALL-E

Mary Poppins’ standards have always been high, especially when it comes to men, but finding a dude who’s “practically perfect in every way” hasn’t worked out for the perpetually single nanny. A classic Type-A personality, Mary likes to keep things spit-spot. So when she gets set-up with WALL-E, a waste-collecting robot, she’s smitten. Their first date is on WALL-E’s favorite garbage heap sharing a bottle of rum punch.

Belle (Beauty and the Beast) and Shrek

Turns out Belle has a type and it’s NOT the “pretty boy” look. When Beast turned into a handsome prince, Belle eventually lost interest and realized she likes her men UGLY. You know, the type of guy who will use his own earwax for a candlelit dinner in his hovel.

Elsa (Frozen) and Buzz Lightyear

She might come off as an “ice princess” but Elsa warms up to the advances of Buzz Lightyear. After all, she REALLY knows how to push his buttons. They meet at an ice skating rink.

Dory (Finding Nemo) and Babe

Dory and Babe make a delicious couple, both are kind, generous and optimistic-- if just a tad slow minded. And although Dory helped find Nemo, what she can’t seem to locate is a restaurant the couple can both agree on for their first date. Babe wants sushi and she’s craving a pulled-pork sandwich. They settle on a nice vegan spot.
