Whether it's summer vacation, or time to head back to school, there's one thing parents are always doing: making snacks, snacks and more snacks. But after days and weeks, the same cheese and crackers, chips or granola bars just lose their luster. These snacks are b-o-r-i-n-g! Instead, present them a snack inspired by the summer’s hottest films. We’ve got four suggestions that are easy to make and will, for sure, break the cycle of dull and dreary snacks.

Bone Cookies inspired by Max

Instead of making doggie treats, make a dozen or so bone-shaped cookies for kids in honor of the courageous dog Max.

What You’ll Need
Basic sugar-cookie batter
Bone Cookie cutter

Directions:
Make a simple sugar-cookie dough. After rolling it out, cut out bone shapes using a cookie cutter (or if you have fine motor skills, you an cut them out yourself). Present to them your dog-loving crew, just make sure you don’t mix them up with any actual dog bone treats you may have on hand, that would be an unsavory error.

Twinkies inspired by Minions

Twinkies and Minions are a match made in treat heaven!

What You’ll Need:
Twinkies
Peppermint Life Savers
Chunks of black licorice

Directions:
Push the Life Savers into the body of the Twinkie (you might cut a tiny bit of the cake out to press the candies in). Then carefully cut tiny circles of licorice and push into the center of the Life Savers. Cut thin stripes of licorice to use as stands of hair and for mouths. Cut off the bottom of the Twinkie so you can stand them upright if you’d like.

Dino Eggs inspired by Jurassic World

Don’t worry, these are dino eggs, they’re chicken eggs, but just have a far more aged look to them.

What You’ll Need
Hard-boiled eggs
A mix of food-coloring hues

Directions
Boil the eggs and let them cool. Meanwhile, make a brown dye by mixing a variety of food colorings such as red, blue and yellow. Mix it up with water until you have a brown.
When the eggs are cold enough to handle, lightly crack them all over without doing it too hard so that the shell comes off. Then place the eggs in the dye. After about 5 or 10 minutes, take them out and take the shells off.

Cheesy Pac-Mans Inspired by Pixels

This snack may be cheesy, but it’s simple and delicious.

What You’ll Need
Slices of cheddar cheese
Round cookie cutter
Pencil with the eraser cut out

Directions
This is one of the easiest snacks to make. Use your cookie cutter to cut out circles of cheddar cheese. Then slice out a pie slice out of one side. Use the pencil that has had the eraser removed (and area cleaned) and use that to create small circles to place by the mouth of the Pac-Man.
