Those of you anxious to see what Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson do with the motion-captured 3D flick Tintin will have to wait till December 23, 2011 because that's when the movie will hit theaters here in the United States. Surprisingly (or not so surprisingly since Tintin is based on a property which was originally created overseas), the film will arrive in English-speaking international markets (like the UK and Australia) a few months prior in late October.

The film, titled The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn, is said to be the first of what will eventually become a franchise – with Spielberg directing this tale and Jackson helming the second installment. It will be all motion-capture, and follow the young reporter (played by Jamie Bell) as he squares off against his nemesis, Red Rackham (Daniel Craig).

Are you familiar with Tintin? Is this a film on your radar, or would you rather Spielberg and Jackson take on something a little closer to home?

Blockbuster to Rescue Itself By Selling Movie Swag

It doesn't take a brain surgeon to understand that Blockbuster video has been having a rough time competing in a marketplace where Netflix reigns supreme and a lot of folks have turned to watching movies and TV shows online. So what can they do, aside from asking you to pay a fortune to rent a movie?

Well, The Hollywood Reporter tells us that Blockbuster is going to start selling movie swag (or merchandise), like Men in Black and Top Gun sunglasses, among other things. Personally I'm not sure those sunglasses are inspired creations that will surely save their business, but I guess you have to start somewhere, right?

Would you visit Blockbuster more if it meant purchasing some movie merch to go along with your rental?

Video of the Week: 'The Boyfriend Experience' Trailer

If you haven't yet watched Steven Soderbergh's The Girlfriend Experience, then I whole-heartedly urge you to check it out either in theaters or on demand. It's a little edgy and slow in parts – and keep in mind it's one of Soderbergh's artsy, random, complicated "life" movies, but it features an excellent dry performance from porn star-turned-actress Sasha Grey as a high-priced call girl trying to balance her work life and her real life when both keep colliding into one another. Feel free to check out the trailer here.

Got it? Good. But that's not the video of the week. See, this really funny sketch comedy group decided to have some fun with the original Girlfriend Experience trailer and they created their own trailer for a movie called The Boyfriend Experience. I happen to think it's hilarious, and in order to truly get it, you need to watch both trailers – so head over here to watch The Boyfriend Experience trailer and let us know what you think. Does it hit a little too close to home for some of you?
