Not long ago it was rumored that Robert De Niro and Jude Law had joined Thor, possibly as members of the Warrior's Three, a trio of Asgardian warriors who fight alongside Thor in the upcoming Marvel superhero film due in theaters on May 20, 2011. Those rumors were eventually squashed, and today it was finally announced that Stuart Townsend, Ray Stevenson and Tadanobu Asano have filled in those much talked-about roles. Here's how the parts break down, according to Variety:

Stuart Townsend (Fandral): "A character which was drawn in the comic book series based on Errol Flynn and his movies."
Ray Stevenson (Volstagg the Valiant): "A hard-living brawler, a character inspired by Falstaff."
Tadanobu Asano (Hogun the Grim): "The third warrior and traveling companion of the hammer-swinging Thor, who is played by Chris Hemsworth."

The film, which is set to begin production in January, also stars Anthony Hopkins, Tom Hiddleston and Natalie Portman. Kenneth Branagh will direct. What are your thoughts on this latest round of casting? Are there enough familiar names to whet your appetite, or is this one Marvel film that doesn't look as appetizing?
