Need a quick recap of the past week in movie news? Here are the highlights:

Michael Sarnoski enters A Quiet Place: Fresh off the success of his independent feature debut, Pig writer and director Michael Sarnoski has been tapped to continue one of the biggest film franchises in Hollywood. According to Deadline, Sarnoski is in negotiations to helm the next A Quiet Place movie, taking over from Jeff Nichols. Sarnoski would also be tasked with writing the script.

The first two movies were directed by John Krasinski, who also came up with the idea for the next installment. Despite A Quiet Place Part II ending on something of a cliffhanger, this A Quiet Place movie is said to be a spinoff rather than another chapter in the lives of the Abbott family. The original cast members, including Krasinski and Emily Blunt, are not expected to reprise their roles.

Gal Gadot wants To Catch a Thief: Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot has found another project to add to her busy slate. Deadline reports the actress is remaking the Alfred Hitchcock classic To Catch a Thief. She will produce the movie and also appear in a lead role, presumably the one occupied by Grace Kelly in the 1955 original. That version also stars Cary Grant.

TV writer Eileen Jones (the Lethal Weapon series) is working on the screenplay. The story involves a former jewel thief accused of returning to his old ways following a rise in burglaries on the French Riviera. Gadot could also play the retired criminal, which was Grant’s role in the previous incarnation. Either way, she will need some amazing costumes to honor those of the original.

Andrew Burnap is Snow White’s male lead: Speaking of both remakes and movies starring Gal Gadot, Disney’s live-action version of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs has found its male lead. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Tony-winning stage actor Andrew Burnap has joined the cast of the reimagining. He will play a new love-interest character created for this version.

Gadot is already on board as the Evil Queen while West Side Story breakout Rachel Zegler has the Snow White role. The new movie will again be a musical but will feature new songs, written by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (La La Land). Burnap, who is best known for non-musical Broadway gigs such as the hit play The Inheritance, will reportedly be singing in the movie.

Pedro Almodovar to direct Cate Blanchett: On the subject of trying new things, acclaimed Spanish filmmaker Pedro Almodovar is planning his first ever English-language feature, and he’s cast a great Australian actress to star. Variety reports that two-time Oscar-winner Cate Blanchett will star in his next movie, which will be titled A Manual for Cleaning Women.

Blanchett is also on board as a producer of the project, which adapts the book of the same name by Lucia Berlin. The source material is a collection of 43 short stories about women in demanding jobs. Almodovar has a great track record of directing lead performers to Oscar nominations. His latest, Parallel Mothers, is expected to garner a nod for its star, Penelope Cruz.
