Jackass 4 is on the way: The stunt and prank phenomenon Jackass, which began as a series on MTV nearly 20 years ago, will soon return to the big screen, per Deadline. Paramount officially marked the date of March 5, 2021, for the fourth movie’s release, but nothing else is known about the production. Presumably, Johnny Knoxville will again lead the shenanigans.
Lee Daniels to direct Stealth: The Oscar-nominated director behind Precious and The Butler is taking on the superhero movie genre for his next project. According to Deadline, Lee Daniels will direct Universal’s Stealth, based on an upcoming comic book about an aging crime fighter who has Alzheimer’s disease. Iron Man screenwriters Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby are handling the adaptation.
Lord and Miller to produce bear horror comedy: Universal is also developing a horror comedy pitched as Good Boys meets The Revenant, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The bear-driven movie will be produced by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse) and directed by the Ready or Not helmers collectively known as Radio Silence.
Wile E. Coyote movie to be helmed by Dave Green: Another Looney Tunes movie is coming together at Warner Bros. with the hiring of director Dave Green (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows). Variety reports that he and Chris McKay (The Lego Batman Movie) are developing Coyote vs. Acme, a live-action and animation hybrid feature focused on the characters Wile E. Coyote and his nemesis the Road Runner.
Jon M. Chu to make Permanent Record: Also set up at Warner Bros., an adaptation of the YA romance novel Permanent Record is in the works. Deadline reports the movie, about the relationship between a well-known social media influencer and a nobody deli worker, will be directed by Jon M. Chu, best known for helming Crazy Rich Asians and G.I. Joe: Retaliation.
Yorgos Lanthimos to adapt The Hawkline Monster: Oscar-nominated filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos, who made The Lobster and The Favourite, has possibly found his next project. According to The Hollywood Reporter, he is in talks to direct an adaptation of Richard Brautigan’s Gothic Western novel The Hawkline Monster, which is about two gunslingers hired to kill a monster.
