Since The Ring was literally one of the scariest movies I've ever seen, I'm not completely against the continuation of this franchise, even if The Ring 2 did turn out to be a massive disappointment. Because Hollywood thinks 3D is the cure for everything (it can turn crappy movies into hits! It can resurrect dead franchises!), Paramount has decided to take a shot on a third Ring installment, only this time they'll give it the old 3D makeover.

'The Ring'

And, not for nothing, but 3D added to a film like The Ring is actually pretty meta of them. Since the film is all about creepy ghoulish beings crawling out of television screens, The Ring is probably the perfect film to make in 3D. Do we need a third Ring, though? I guess that's not really up to you to decide. I will tell you, though, that this new installment will be more teen-centric, and will apparently "reinvent the franchise", according to Heat Vision.

So say goodbye to Naomi Watts and Gore Verbinski, and say hello to a storyline that will most likely revolve around a group of teens holed up in some cabin who discover the infamous videotape. Not saying they can't do some fun things with that premise, I just hope it doesn't play out like just another dumb wannabe teen horror flick.

What do you think? Are you excited for The Ring 3D?
