Were you a fan of the British Claymation cartoon series Wallace & Gromit? If so, you’ll probably love the new Shaun the Sheep Movie. Shaun takes off on an adventure, and has several close encounters along the way.
These whimsical Shaun the Sheep-inspired cupcakes are super simple; they’re as fun to make as they are to eat. Shaun’s head is made from a delicious chocolate-covered, chocolate-chip cookie dough truffle.
You need the following ingredients:
1 cake mix of choice prepared per directions as cupcakes
2 cups of chocolate frosting
Candy eyes
Sliced almonds
12 ounces semisweet chocolate chips
10.5 ounce bag of miniature marshmallows
1/4 cup butter (room temperature)
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup white sugar
1/4 cup miniature chocolate chips
1/4 cup milk
Instructions:
Bake cake mix into cupcakes according to directions
Allow them to cool completely and apply a coating of frosting to each cupcake
To prepare truffles, cream butter, sugars and salt together.
Add in vanilla, flour and milk.
Mix until well combined.
Roll balls into shape and place on wax paper.
Place in freezer for 20 minutes until firm.
Melt chocolate using preferred method.
Dip almonds into chocolate.
You won’t cover them completely in chocolate, roughly 3/4 of the almond.
Allow them to set up on wax paper.
Dip chocolate-chip truffle one at a time in chocolate.
Place on wax paper.
Add eyes and three marshmallows on top to resemble wool.
When chocolate truffle is almost dry, stick the uncovered end of the almond in the truffle to resemble ears.
Place the decorated chocolate-covered truffles on the top of each cupcake.
Add remaining marshmallows to the top of the frosted cupcakes around the truffle.
Refrigerate until ready to serve.
