Warner Bros. has just confirmed quite a few rumors and officially announced the cast for Suicide Squad, the first DC Comics movie to follow Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
And that cast includes...

Jared Leto as the Joker.
Will Smith as Deadshot.
Tom Hardy as Rick Flagg.
Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn.
Jai Courtney as Boomerang.
Cara Delevinge as Enchantress.
That's a noteworthy cast, and not just because this'll be Tom Hardy's second role as a bad guy in a DC Comics movie. It's an inspired blend of older, A-list talent with new faces that are bound to have long careers in the movie business.
David Ayer (Fury) is directing the movie, which finds all of the villains listed above being assembled by the U.S. government and sent on a suicide mission. What that mission is, we don't know, Warner Bros. President Greg Silverman is quoted as saying it will "give new meaning to what it means to be a villain and what it means to be a hero."
Batman v Superman's Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) is also rumored to possibly appear in the movie, though that hasn't been locked down yet. We do know for sure that the last major role waiting to be cast is that of Amanda Waller, who is the one who wrangles together the Suicide Squad. According to Variety, the studio wants Oprah Winfrey for that part, though they're also looking at Octavia Spencer and Viola Davis.
Suicide Squad hits theaters on August 5, 2016.
