You know you want details on that planned Karate Kid remake starring Will Smith’s kid Jaden, and you know you want me to give them to you. I know, I’m just as peeved about a Karate Kid remake as you are, but Moviehole – who currently have a run down of the new film’s plot – claim the script is "very good," and that it’s "different enough to be considered its own beast."

That said, it still follows a fish-out-of-water kid named Dre (Jaden Smith) who’s forced to move to Beijing when his mother is offered a job transfer. Like the original film, Dre is bullied and beaten up by the local street toughs; he then meets his apartment maintenance man (Jackie Chan) who agrees to help teach Dre both martial arts and the Chinese language. To me this sounds exactly like the first film, only set in a different country with a different cast – but location can also make a huge difference, and so while skeptical as all hell, I think I’m willing to give this a shot and see.

Are you completely turned off by a Karate Kid remake, or do you welcome a new approach?

Seth MacFarlane Planning 'Family Guy' Movie?

Fans of Stewie (that’s me!) and the rest of the Griffin family might be happy to learn that Seth MacFarlane (creator of the popular animated television series) is currently chatting with 20th Century Fox about bringing the gang to the big screen. He tells Wired, "We want to do it. Fox wants it. We know what we want to do with it. It’s just a question of finding the time. That’s why 'The Simpsons' took so many years to do theirs. They just couldn’t fit it into the schedule."

Seeing as "The Simpsons" took upwards of five years to get their feature-length movie in theaters, it could take some time for "Family Guy" to do the same – especially with animators working double-time to also churn out a weekly episode on Fox. But MacFarlane admits they’re in the early stages, and so look for more word to arrive from Quahog real soon.

Any "Family Guy" fans interested in a feature-length movie, or do you feel the show’s humor is better contained when in half-hour bursts?

First There Were Mall Cops – Now Will Ferrell Is on 'Neighborhood Watch'

Seems low-rent security is the latest comedic trend to hit Hollywood, and after Paul Blart: Mall Cop and Observe & Report bumbled their way in and out of theaters, Variety reports that Will Ferrell may take it one step further and star in a film called Neighborhood Watch. What’s next: Zac Efron in…Hall Monitor?

The film, which may be directed by David Dobkin (Fred Claus, Wedding Crashers) if he signs on, tells of a man (Ferrell) who joins the neighborhood watch in his community and then uncovers a major conspiracy. Hey, at least he’s not coaching the neighborhood kickball team…right?
