James Bond returns to theaters this Friday as Skyfall premieres in the UK. Daniel Craig returns in the iconic role and tangles with villain Javier Bardem, martinis are shaken and beauties are bedded. But the man who helmed the film may not return for another Bond film.

When asked if he would be interested in directing another Bond movie, Sam Mendes told Metro UK that "it's been a fantastic experience, but it's been completely exhausting. Do I want to do another one? I'm a shadow of my former self. [Laughs] No, I don't know. I felt like everything I want to do with a Bond movie, I put into this film. So I would have to be convinced that I could do something that I loved and cared about as much if I was to do it again. I think the great risk of repeating oneself is that one doesn't have the great store of ideas that you have when you first tackle a subject."

Skyfall has been earning rave reviews as one of the best Bond movies since the Sean Connery days, including our Sean O'Connell who said it is the most complete vision of the classic James Bond character Daniel Craig has been given to play. "All of the elements fans have come to expect from a whip-smart 007 thriller are present, but director Sam Mendes somehow manages to pay homage to the past while also serving the contemporary movie-going audience," O'Connell said. "In Skyfall, Bond feels classic as well as original, suave as well as unpolished. The action is top notch. The character work is subtle but substantial. And Javier Bardem ranks as one of the best Bond villains of all time."

Skyfall opens in the U.S. on November 9. Are you excited for this film? Check back here after you've seen the film and let us know if you want Mendes to helm another Bond film.
