Awards season is in full swing, and with Golden Globe nominations due tomorrow, the first major guild has revealed its nominations. Right off the bat, the Screen Actors Guild has thrown names like Jennifer Aniston (Cake), Jake Gyllenhaal (Nightcrawler), Robert Duvall (The Judge) and Naomi Watts (pictured above in St. Vincent) into the mix for the first time this awards season (those names have remained absent from most critic organization lists), while Selma -- an early favorite among those who have seen it -- was noticeably absent, as was its lead actor, David Oyelowo.
The following list of nominees may not differ much from the Globes, and our biggest takeaway is that it just goes to show how wide open this awards season seems to be, with Birdman and Boyhood being the major standouts in terms of films that are winning recognition from both critics and guilds. Other awards favorites that didn't make a larger SAG splash include American Sniper, Unbroken and Into the Woods, though the latter two did receive one nod each.
