Who wants some juicy movie rumors? We’ve got a few big ones today, including one that could change the entire Marvel cinematic universe if it pans out.

Drew McWeeny over at HitFix has some potentially massive news to share – news that should set your Spidey senses to tingling if you love your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man: Peter Parker could finally be coming home to the Marvel universe.

Sony’s had the cinematic rights to the wall crawler for years, but rumor has it a deal is afoot that would allow Marvel and Disney to use the character in other films. This would be a historic deal and a massive game changer for Marvel. We'll let McWeeny explain.

“While I can’t get the confirmations I need to verify the story, I’m hearing that there are some very cool Spider-Man plans being discussed that would help Sony refocus their enormously important franchise while also opening up some connections in the on-screen Marvel movie universe that would blow fandom’s minds. Will it work out? I don’t know. I would love to be able to state for sure that it’s happening. What seems clear from what I’ve heard is that Marvel wants to be able to play with all of their characters, and if they can make that work creatively and on a corporate level, they will, and that means the world gets bigger again."

Rumor Grade: Likely

While this is still all unconfirmed and might not happen, it’s interesting to speculate what it could mean for Marvel moving forward if they were able to use Spidey in some movies. Our guess is that we’d see a Civil War adaptation, which would be pretty fantastic. Keep your fingers crossed, true believers.

More Obi-Wan prequels in the works?

Obi Wan Kenobi

While the Episode VII rumors are flying fast and furious, today’s news involves a potential update concerning the planned spin-off features. We know at least two stand-alone films are coming (Gareth Edwards and Josh Trank are already attached to them), but if this rumor pans out there could be a whole lot more in the pipeline.

Fans have speculated that at least one of the new stand-alones will focus on Obi-Wan Kenobi and his adventures during the Clone Wars, but this new story posted over at Comic Book Movie claims there will actually be three Obi-Wan films – which will not be interconnected aside from featuring Kenobi. They will also allegedly feature another famous Jedi, Qui-Gon Jinn. Here are the details:

“One set completely on Tatooine and two where Obi-Wan travels elsewhere in the Galaxy. Qui-Gon Jinn is very much present in these stories. So too is Owen Lars. Several characters from the Clone Wars TV show would make an appearance. There would be flashbacks to Obi-Wan fighting in the Clone Wars.”

Rumor Grade: Not Likely

While we don’t doubt that Obi-Wan could lead three films, it seems at least somewhat likely that there may just be three different ideas for an Obi-Wan movie and only one of them will get made. We’ll just have to wait and see what Disney ultimately decides.

Fox eyes X-Men TV spin-off

X-Men

In other comic news, Fox is looking to expand the X-Men universe beyond the silver screen, and is considering plans to launch a new live-action television series based on the adventures of Professor X and his merry band of mutants.

Bleeding Cool has the early news, which basically says Fox is in “deep development” on a plan to launch a series. This makes sense, as the X-Men have tons of classic stories to tell that will never be featured in a movie. A television series allows Fox to do different things with the franchise, and would potentially appease fans by adapting even more of the classic story arcs.

The possible catch here is casting, since it seems unlikely that the big-screen casts are going to jump to television, so you might be looking at three different actors for some characters (including the First Class crew), or a series that focuses on characters who aren’t in the films.

Rumor Grade: Very Likely

There are certainly some hurdles to be cleared here, but if X-Men comes to the small screen we would definitely tune in.

Which rumor(s) do you hope become reality?
