From RoboCop to... supervillain?
According to several sources, including Latino Review and The Wrap, RoboCop star Joel Kinnaman is in talks to replace Tom Hardy in DC's upcoming supervillain-stacked Suicide Squad. If negotiations with the actor are successful, Kinnaman will play Rick Flagg, the reluctant leader of the group comprised of nefarious supervillains assembled to take on secret suicide missions for the United States government.
The film, which is part of a new era of DC Comics-based movies (including Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League) will also star Will Smith (Deadshot), Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang), Cara Delevigne (Enchantress) and Jared Leto (Joker). For fans it's an exciting project because we've never really seen an entire movie comprised of bad guys before, and it'll be fascinating and fun to root for these villains only to be forced to root against them when they inevitably show up in future DC movies.
Suicide Squad will reach theaters on August 5, 2016. Worry not, though, as moviegoers will get a chance to see Suicide Squad stars Will Smith and Margot Robbie duke it out in the slick-looking Focus, in theaters on February 27.
