The monsters are coming, and it’s the Muppets who are bringing them back to theaters.
Running in front of Muppets Most Wanted later this month will be Party Central, the latest short film from the brilliant minds at Disney-Pixar. Written and directed by Kelsey Mann, the short brings audiences back to Monsters University, where Mike (Billy Crystal), Sully (John Goodman) and the misfits of the Oozma Kappa fraternity house are attempting to throw the greatest party M.U. has ever seen.
“We were really enjoying these characters, and we thought, ‘Gosh, it would be really great to do something else with these guys,’” Mann tells us in an exclusive interview. “The idea of doing a short came up.”
Speaking of exclusives, Pixar shared with us an exclusive clip from the new short. Watch it here!
The short film actually looks like a sequence that could have existed in M.U. And Mann says that’s how it came about.
“The first thing the Oozma Kappas say when you meet them is, ‘Welcome to party central! We haven’t had a party here yet, but when we do, we’ll be ready!’ I wanted to see them throw their party! … We couldn’t find a real, natural place to do it in the movie, but the idea of the short came up, so now we get to see them throw their big, massive, monster party.”
And you are all invited. Party Central will screen before Muppets Most Wanted, which opens everywhere on March 21. Get your tickets right here, right now!
