If all goes as planned, Nicolas Cage may once again dabble in the big-screen comic book world – but this time he'll do so as the villain, instead of the hero. Variety tells us that Cage is in talks to play the gangster villain in The Green Hornet, which will be directed by Michel Gondy and star a much skinnier Seth Rogen (who also wrote the script with Superbad partner Evan Goldberg) as the title character.
Alongside Rogen will most likely be Cameron Diaz, who'll play his love interest as well as a reporter assuming her negotiations end with the gal signing on for the role. Still non-existent, though, is the role of Kato, who's the Green Hornet's sidekick. Originally that was Stephen Chow's part, though he ditched it – along with the directing gig – for another project, leaving this flick in need of its martial arts-wielding partner. Currently there's no word on who'll play Kato, though with production set to begin this fall (for a Summer 2010 release date), chances are they'll pick their Kato real soon.
As far as Cage goes – yeah, I guess he'd make for a pretty good villain, though more often than not his performances are a tad over-the-top, which could make for the perfect baddie or one we can't help but snicker at.
What do you think about The Green Hornet, its cast and Nic Cage as a villain?
