Well, I guess we can quit reporting on all those Bond girl rumors for the time being since it could be quite awhile before the secret agent returns to the big screen. Due to the ongoing money problems with MGM, Bond producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli have decided to put the 23rd Bond movie on hold indefinitely (meaning they have no idea when this is gonna clear up). Sad face.

Here's part of what came out of a joint press release: "Due to the continuing uncertainty surrounding the future of MGM and the failure to close a sale of the studio, we have suspended development on 'Bond 23' indefinitely. We do not know when development will resume and do not have a date for the release of 'Bond 23.'"

This is a total bummer because while Quantum of Solace did not live up to the awesomeness that was Casino Royale, there was still some really great vibes surrounding this latest back-to-where-it-all-began franchise spin. Plus Daniel Craig was a great Bond, and I hope he'll still be available when (and if) the time comes to finally ramp up production. It's sad that MGM is going through these problems, and it's even sadder that the studio still hasn't found a buyer. The James Bond franchise is one of the most exciting action franchises in movie history, and I sincerely hope they solve these issues soon so we can to see another installment.

Are you sad that there won't be a new James Bond film soon, or were you not crazy about the franchise to begin with?
