Disney's all-new, live-action adventure The Lion King unleashed a mighty roar at the box office over the weekend. Behind the impressive figures, however, director Jon Favreau and his fabulous cast showed that a hunger remains among audiences for films that can be watched with the entire family.
While it's true that Disney has expanded its production slate to include films that appeal to older audiences as well, the company continues to produce exciting adventures that welcome families into theaters. Here are three more family features that will be arriving from Disney this year.
The title and tone suggest strongly that the followup to Maleficent will emphasize the more villainous aspects of Maleficent's personality. Still, given Angelina Jolie's deft ability to portray multi-dimensional characters, we won't be surprised if the 'Mistress of Evil' retains heroic traits in the face of new, dark forces. Elle Fanning, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Harris Dickinson, Ed Skrein and Michelle Pfeiffer also star.

Beloved characters from an all-time, worldwide smash return in an adventure that takes them far away from their familiar surroundings. We feel confident that the familiar personalities from the original will be able to meet the new challenges that will inevitably arise. Let it snow!

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker
Reportedly, the Skywalker saga will come to a conclusion in an adventure that is sure to be epic in scope and intimate in nature. Director J.J. Abrams returns along with a sterling cast that includes Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong'o, Kelly Marie Tran, Kerri Russell and Ian McDiarmid.
