Suicide Squad: Viola Davis, who has twice been nominated for an Academy Award (Doubt, The Help), is in line to play a villainous role in DC's Suicide Squad. She would play Amanda Waller, a character often charged with running the team in the comic book series. Schedule issues may be an issue, however, since she is also busy starring in the hit TV show How to Get Away with Murder. The cast currently includes Will Smith, Jared Leto, Tom Hardy, Margot Robbie and Jai Courtney. [Latino Review]
Pontius Pilate: Brad Pitt, who was attached to star in a new movie titled Pontius Pilate (depicted above by Jean Marais in a 1962 movie about the character), has dropped out, and so has financier-distributor Warner Bros., but the project is still moving forward. Reportedly, that's because of the high quality of the script by Vera Blasi, who spins a fascinating tale about a first-century Roman soldier turned politician who gets in over his head in tumultuous times and ends up giving the death sentence to Jesus Christ. Metropolis: A rare poster of the silent-movie classic Metropolis is among nearly 200,000 posters that will go up for auction as a collection this month. Morris Everett Jr. has collected, sold and traded movie posters and lobby cards for more than 53 years. His collection has an estimated value of $8 million. [DW.de]
Cinderella Trailer: A new international trailer for Disney's upcoming live-action Cinderella takes a different approach than the first trailer, spending more time showcasing the glamorous settings and colorful costumes, as well as showing more of Lily James in the title role. Cate Blanchett plays her evil stepmother, with Helena Bonham Carter as her fairy godmother and Richard Madden as Prince Charming; the movie opens in U.S. theaters on March 13. [MovieClips]
