Top Gun 2: Producer David Ellison recently proclaimed: "There is no Top Gun 2 without Maverick," the cocky pilot played by Tom Cruise in the 1986 original. Now Cruise himself says: "If I can figure it out, if all of us can figure it out, it’d be fun to do, I’d like to fly those jets again, but we got to do all the jets practical, no CGI on the jets. … If we can figure all that out, and the Department of Defense will allow us to do it, that would be fun.” The project is currently in the scriptwriting stage. The Rosie Project: Richard Linklater (Boyhood) is under consideration to direct The Rosie Project, which is set to star Jennifer Lawrence. It's adapted from a novel by Graeme Simsion about a genetics professor who comes up with a "scientific survey to find a perfect mate" until, that is, he meets Rosie (Lawrence), a woman who doesn't meet any of his criteria. Scott Neustadter and Michael Weber, who wrote (500) Days of Summer, have written the screenplay. [Deadline]
Doctor Strange: A few weeks ago, we reported on a rumor that Rachel McAdams had been offered the lead role in Marvel's Doctor Strange opposite Benedict Cumberbatch. McAdams has now confirmed that she is considering an appearance in the movie, noting, however: "It's still super-early days, and I don't know where that's gonna go, if it's gonna go anywhere at all."
