Mandrake the Magician: Sacha Baron Cohen (Alice Through the Looking Glass, above) will star in Mandrake the Magician, based on a popular comic strip. Etan Cohen (Get Hard) will direct. First published in 1934, the comic strip revolved around a magician who traveled the world to fight evil. Reportedly, the movie will be set in the modern day after Mandrake is recruited by the U.S. government. [Tracking Board]

 

Halt and Catch Fire

Blade Runner Sequel: Mackenzie Davis (TV's Halt and Catch Fire, above) has joined the cast of the sequel to Blade Runner. Her role has not been revealed. Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, Robin Wright and Dave Bautista lead the cast. Principal photography under the direction of Denis Villeneuve (Sicario) is expected to begin in July. How the Grinch Stole Christmas: We'll have to wait a bit longer to enjoy How the Grinch Stole Christmas. The release of a new animated version of the classic tale by Dr. Seuss has been pushed from November 10, 2017 to November 9, 2018. Benedict Cumberbatch leads the voice cast.
